Alimentary attractants

The food attractants are substances that attract insects by confusing them with a source for feeding or egg laying.

These baits capture specially females, so its use in the traps is an effective method for the monitoring and management by mass trapping to combat the adults' insects' pests, reaching an effective level of management, keeping the insect population under the acceptable tolerance threshold.
Attractants are used basically in managements' techniques by mass trapping with the suitable traps. These methods do not leave residues or affect the beneficial insects, because they are, generally, specific.
